How progression actually gates you
Worlds are not unlocked by a level number. They open as your strength and money grow, and each one raises both the training required to win competitions and the money those competitions pay out.

The readiness test
You are ready for the next gym when you win competitions in your current one without needing a full training cycle first. If every win takes a complete grind, moving up will make that worse rather than better.
New machines matter as much as new opponents — the Pet Enchanting Machine in the Modern Gym and the pet stands in the Seaside Gym are reasons to spend time in a world beyond just beating it.
